Like many technologies, AI offers a powerful upside. There’s great potential for sifting through vast arrays of complex information at quantum speed and making recommendations on a heartbeat.
However, as with all technology, AI is only as effective and as the humans who work with it.
No algorithm can replace the nuanced communication necessary for building trust, caring relationships, engagement, commitment, empathy, ethical thinking, and common sense that makes interpreting results and leadership decisions as much an art as a science.
So as you lead your company in decisions about how to respond to the reality of AI in your industry, be sure to include stakeholders into the discussion who can broaden the conversation.
Bringing multiple perspectives to the table will allow you to reflect on how to anticipate and manage implications of AI applications you are considering so they can live up to their full promise.
