What’s the secret of continuing to transform and grow your company when the rules keep shifting? Here’s our advice: change your frame, change your future. The real challenge isn’t just leading through the chaos; it’s how you look at the chaos. Changing your shared frame of reference about a situation can literally change how you think, feel, and act upon it. And this is what can enable you to take advantage of game-changing opportunities that can change your future.
In this week’s Quick Take episode, we discuss a few ways to start changing your shared frame of reference to reimagine your future. This includes the importance of becoming aware of familiar patterns of thought, feeling, and action that may no longer serve you well in uncharted territory. We share how games can train brains to look at familiar patterns in new ways and how bringing others into conversations can expand your points of reference: the stories you tell yourself, the assumptions you lean on, the questions you ask, and those you don’t ask.
We also share two real-world examples of leadership teams that were able to break their habitual patterns of thinking and action by reframing their situations; they discovered surprising opportunities that enabled them to significantly increase their innovation, transformation, and company growth.
“Changing your frame doesn’t need to start with the outside world. It really starts with increasing your own awareness of how you see the world.” Pam Harper
