Pam & Scott’s Quick Take: How are You Celebrating Your Milestones?

Scott Harper (00:51): Hey there, everybody. It's great to have you with us. And as always, our purpose here is to spark new insights, inspiration, and immediately useful ideas that can help visionary leaders accelerate themselves and of course, their companies to their next level of game changing, innovation, transformation, and growth.

Now, when you're focused on igniting game changing growth for the long term, sometimes it's easy to become so focused on the big outcome that you simply mark off milestones along the way. "Check, check, check. We're tracking" -- You know.

Pam Harper (01:25): But there's value in celebrating milestones. This gives you a morale boost along a journey filled with a lot of ups and downs. The key is to celebrate in whatever way best fits your culture. For example, I know a company that rings a bell every time they gain a customer, but they don't stop there. They ask, "what's next?" This helps keep momentum going,

Scott Harper (01:51): Right. So with Celebration in mind, we are sharing three milestones we've reached for Growth Ignites Radio, and what's coming up in the next year.

Pam Harper (01:59): Our first milestone in February of 2023. So right now, this month, growth Igniter's Radio enters its ninth year of podcasting. Nine years stopped.

Scott Harper (02:13): Yeah. Wow.

Pam Harper (02:14): We've really enjoyed our conversations with guests who are focused on making a positive difference in the world through business. And we already have some great guests lined up for the months ahead.

Scott Harper (02:24): We do. And our second milestone is that in mid 2022, we added quick take episodes to our podcast series. This was inspired by feedback from listeners who said that they'd like to hear more from us as Pam and Scott ourselves. What's our take on top of mind issues impacting leadership and strategic growth? We'll continue to alternate these quick takes with our guest episodes.

Pam Harper (02:49): Our third milestone is that we're getting more recognition in the podcast community. We really appreciate all the great feedback and reviews from you, our listeners.

Scott Harper (03:00): Yes, we do.

Pam Harper (03:01): This is important too, because your positive reviews increase our visibility and reach to even more leaders who can benefit. So please be a reviewer. Just open Growth Igniter's Radio on whatever podcast you use, and write a short review and share the links to your favorite episodes on social media.

Scott Harper (03:21): Now, going along with this, we've received additional recognition in the podcast community, the 2022 PopCon podcast awards named us a top podcast in the business marketing and technology category, and Thinkers 360 Thought Leaders named us as a top 100 podcast. This is a milestone because the podcasting community is evolving to include standards of excellence, and these standards are going to influence how we will continue to develop Growth Igniter's Radio.

Pam Harper (03:53): So there are lots of reasons to celebrate Growth Igniter's Radio.

Scott Harper (03:57): Yes, there are. And of course, celebrating milestones between ourselves with a glass of wine and a great dinner. That's always nice, Pam.

Pam Harper (04:04): Absolutely.

Scott Harper (04:05): Now, like everything we celebrate, it's important to use the milestone as a way to think about what's next and how we can keep creating short term and long-term value for leaders in this constantly changing world.

Pam Harper (04:20): So what's next for Growth Igniter's Radio? We're putting more focus on a newer category we call the Human Connection. Here's the idea. Every top leader has a story to tell about why they decided to climb the corporate ladder, or you have a passion or interest that influences your approach to leadership. When you can help employees and other stakeholders understand who you are as a person, it contributes to building the trust and commitment it takes to lead a bold vision, especially in the face of ambiguity.

Scott Harper (04:57): That's right, and along with the human connection. Other themes in 2023 will include the CEO mindset, leadership for innovation and transformation and shaping organizational culture and business performance. Sometimes we're going to be inspiring, sometimes will be quirky, but we're always going to have a strong point of view and an immediately useful idea or question for you to use.

Pam Harper (05:22): So here's an immediately useful idea for all of you: Celebrate your milestones in whatever way suits your culture and values. Then ask what's next. This can help you build on the milestone as you lead for tomorrow, starting today.
