Did you know that every January is National Mentoring Month in the U.S.? Who has been an important mentor in your life? In this “Quick Take” episode (which we recorded in January), we share the first in an occasional segment we’re calling “Thanking our Mentors.”
The first mentor we’re thanking is Scott’s father, Dr. W. James Harper. Up until his passing at age 91, “Dad” was a world-leading innovator in food science and technology. He mentored students, researchers, industry executives (and us) by challenging his mentees to be curious, think differently, and work with others in new ways. At his Celebration of Life, we heard many stories of how he guided his students and colleagues to create novel value in the world. And of course, we express our gratitude for his nurturing guidance over the course of our lives.
The best way to appreciate our mentors is to continue to spread their wisdom
far and wide. – Pam Harper
